Blueberry Chocolate Crumble

Updated: Dec 3, 2020

A fruit crumble is such a simple but still beautiful dessert, easy to make and the preparation time takes just a few minutes. It is an all-year-suitable treat because seasonal fruits can be used and different spices change the crumble completely. As for the fruits, a lot of ingredients work for the topping such as nuts, various grains, dried fruits - creativity knows no limits!

One tip I have for you: when using fruits make sure they are juicy enough, I like to add extra liquid like a few tbsp of orange juice or just water combined with sugar and spices, so the crumble does not get too dry. For this crumble I used frozen blueberries and dark chocolate I had left in my cupboard.

For the crumble you will need:

  • 150g oats

  • 100g flour

  • 80g caster sugar

  • 100g softened butter (or coconut oil if you want to have it vegan/dairyfree)

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 200g blueberries

  • 100g dark chocolate

First preheat the oven to 180°C. Mix the oats, flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon together in a bowl and knead it with your hands until everything is combined and you have a crumbly consistency with a few bigger chunks. Chop up the chocolate and pour it together with the blueberries into an ovenproof dish, covering everything with the crumble mixture. Leave it in the oven for around 30 minutes until the crumble has a beautiful golden brown colour. Enjoy it while still warm with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
