Another yummy addition for a weekend or holiday brunch and a great way to use up leftover brioche (find a great recipe for a brioche braid here), old toastbread or any other kind of hardened up white bread. Finished in just a few steps, it is as versatile to combine as pancakes with different toppings and various spices. Here I will show you my favourite way to eat it.
For 4 French Toast slices you will need:
4 slices of brioche, toastbread, or any white bread (about 2cm thick)
1 egg
150ml milk
1 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of butter
Whisk up the egg, milk, caster sugar and cinnamon. Heat up a large frying pan, let the butter melt at medium heat. Soak the brioche or bread slices 2 times from both sides. Then place them in the frying pan and bake them on ech side for around 45-60 seconds until everything is golden brown.
My favourite topping and combination are fresh raspberries and blueberries, raspberry sauce, maple syrup (best friend of French Toast) and greek or coconut yoghurt. Place everything on top of the French Toast and enjoy it while it is still warm.
